Facelift, or facial facelift ,is a plastic surgery procedure that is the most effective way to cope with aging. The facelift in particular corrects skin relaxation and eliminates wrinkles in the area of the neck and face created as a result of normal body wear.
What is facelift?
It is the most effective practice for the renewal of the person. With the facelift the dropped soft particles return to their original position by fine manipulations performed by the plastic surgeon. Since the 1970s, for the first time, facelift has become one of the most common plastic surgeries taking place all over the world.
What is the right age for a facelift?
Typically, the appropriate age for a facelift is between 45 and 50 years old. But this is not absolute, because there are people who have no visible signs of aging in their 45s. Therefore, the main factor determining when someone is going to facelift is how great is the degree of facial relaxation, how much the contour has changed and how deep the wrinkles are.
Facelift candidates in the fourth decade of their life have clearly a more natural outcome with longer duration. Usually in our country the decision for this procedure is taken between 52 – 58 years old. In younger ages where wear is not great, other treatments are used instead of surgery, such as botox , hyaluronic acid treatment, or soprano skin tightening laser.
Does facelift only appeal to women or men?
The facelift is equally addressed to both sexes. Some decades ago it might have been a “privilege” for women, but in the present age men in the 50’s are absolutely active and functional and do not want their appearance to be aged. That’s why more and more people go on facelift daily for professional and social reasons.
Facelift: The visit to the clinic
During the first visit to the clinic, the degree of wear on the face and neck will be examined and an extensive discussion about your expectations is made to determine whether and how they are based on realistic expectations. Then you might need another one visit so that the plastic surgeon can answer any questions and choose the most suitable method for your case.
Do I have to do pre op tests before facelift?
Always before every surgery, tests are carried out. In case you are completely healthy and you do not have a chronic condition that could render the surgery prohibitive or a medical history that requires you to perform specialized examinations, only the usual examinations performed prior to each surgery, i.e. general blood tests, urine and electrocardiogram.
How’s the facelift?
There are various facelift techniques. The plastic surgeon will choose the appropriate method, as appropriate. All techniques present basic similarities. In all methods the excess skin is removed and the intercept is common.
How long does the facelift last and what kind of anesthesia is done?
For how long the facelift will take depends on the technique to be applied. Usually its duration ranges from 3 to 4.5 hours. The anesthesia that is preferred is general but it is possible to apply local anesthesia with intoxication.
How long am I going to stay in the hospital after facelift?
If no general anesthesia is applied then you can return to your home as soon as you recover from drunkenness. However, it would be wiser to stay overnight and exit the following day after the withdrawal of the drains.
What complications can happen after the facelift?
The complications that may occur after the facelift are as follows:
- Malformations scars
- Occurrence of inflammation
- Create a hematoma
- Nerve paresis (transient)
Please note that these complications are extremely rare. If any of them occurs, it is immediately treated.
How long after the facelift the patient can return to his/her daily routine?
After the facelift you will have swelling and bruises on the face and neck. The first week it is necessary to wear a special elastic bandage on the face in order to achieve the rebonding of tissues. The incisions in the first days will present redness and swelling but with the special cream that will recommend you the plastic within a week will have improved noticeably. After the first week you can go back to work.
Where are the incisions made?
The incisions in the facelift are made in the area of the scalp. That’s how the incisions are hidden. The only incisions that are somehow exposed are those made in the ear area, but the position has been chosen very carefully. They are made in a natural aspect of the skin, so they are not easy to distinguish.
Will my social circle know that I facelift?
If facelift is done by an experienced, specialized plastic surgeon in a fully equipped clinic, no one will know the difference. A large percentage of people have an intimate but perfectly justifiable fear of moving on to facelift. Many submitted in this procedure, thus distorting and becoming subject to negative comments. If the facelift is done with the new advanced methods there is no such danger. Not even the people of your narrow circle will be able to tell the difference. You’ll look refreshed, shiny, rested, but if you don’t confide in them, they won’t be able to understand it.
How long do the facelift results last?
Essentially the results of the facelift are permanent. With this procedure the tissues are placed in the position they had 10 to 15 years ago. So even after 20 years you will look younger. It is certainly important that the quality of the skin, at what age, the lifestyle you follow and the rate of ageing of your organism.
